Hello my lovely readers!
I have been super busy and going non-stop but last Saturday I was lucky enough to get invited to watch an early media viewing of the new “Pete’s Dragon”. We brought my 7 (almost 8) month old daughter, it was her first movie in a movie theater!
When I was a youngin the original “Pete’s Dragon” was on repeat for the longest time in my house. I went through phases where I got hooked on a movie and watched it over and over and over and “Pete’s Dragon” was one of those favorited films of mine. I loved the story line and the songs were so just so dang catchy!
When I found out they were remaking one of my favorite movies I had a lot of mixed feelings. I was excited because I always look forward to watching movies that are reimagined but at the same time I was super skeptical and worried it would stray to far from the original and not meet my expectations (and I had really high expectations!)
Initially after watching the film I didn’t exactly know how to feel about it. It’s a beautiful movie, they did a fantastic job from the acting to the animation for Elliot, it just wasn’t at all what I was expecting because it was nothing like the original but overall I really did like the film. Within the first 10 minutes of the movie I was already in tears and wanting to hold my little love as close and tight to me as I could, trust me…it’s a tear jerker! My little brother who is 13 has never seen the original really liked it too (and he had no expectations going into it and nothing to compare it to). The only odd part to me was the end, BUT it does goes with the story at the beginning who knew there were more dragons!? I suggest everyone who is going (who has seen the original) to go into the theater with no expectations of it being like the original and you will totally love it!
Elliot was great, there was some funny parts and he reminded me of a mix between a dog, a cat, and a…dragon? He was awesome!
Overall I really loved the film and I really suggest everyone go see this movie! It’s great for the people who have seen the original, great for the younger kids who haven’t seen the original, and a great over all feel good family film!
Thanks for reading! After you see if let me know what you think in the comments below! I’d love to hear your opinion.
